Introduction to Rat's In A Jar
After moving back to the East Coast in 1999, I took job in
Manhattan. I commuted everyday into the city with over
3 million other people. It was a radical change from the car
lifestyle in Los Angeles. At the same time, I slowly gave up theater
and the arts for the pursuit of capitalism. It was a necessary evil
I have come to enjoy.
If you can't make art, buy it.
With that thought driving me, I worked ten to twelve hours days.
However, I had about two hours a day on the train to write. That is
the thing about art. Once bitten, you can not give it up. You
always have the bite marks to remind you to create.
After while, I had a collection of work I did not know what to title.
One day, while watching some birds, who seemed rather upset that the
maintenance people put spiked wires in the eves of the train station
to keep them out, I felt content with the direction of my life. I had
sold out. I had some money for a change. I had a real world job. The
sun was shining. The trees were turning green. Spring had arrived and
I thought to call my scribbling's "Rats In Jar."
Enjoy.
