INT. DAY. POLICE JAIL CELL.

(A woman jailer opens the lock of MICHELLE KINGS cell.)

MICHELLE KING
Are you going to let me make a phone call now?

JAILER
No

MICHELLE KING
Are you going to press charges?

JAILER
That’s not for me to decide.

MICHELLE KING
You know you can’t hold me if you don’t press charges.

JAILER
Legally we can hold you for 72 hours without pressing charges.

MICHELLE KING
Then I get a phone call.

JAILER
Only if we press charges.

MICHELLE KING
Nice.

JAILER
Get out. Your boyfriends posted bail as it were.

MICHELLE KING
What boyfriends?

JAILER
The Love Brothers. They’ve got Skip Burdock hostage and want you released.

MICHELLE KING
They’re not my boyfriends.

JAILER
I don’t care what your relationship with them is. All I know is a mans life is at stake and they want you. As far as I’m concerned you’re all criminals and need to go to jail for a very long time. But that’s not for me to decide.

MICHELLE KING
Well, I’m not going. I don’t know them. I’m already in enough trouble without becoming part of a hostage scene.

(The JAILER is stunned silent.)

MICHELLE KING
No. I’m not going anywhere. You just close the door and lock it. You tell them I don’t know them and I don’t want anything more to do with them.
