EXT. DAY. PASADENA. ANDERSON’S RANCH. MOMS HUT.
(The BROTHERS car winds through the suburbs
of Pasadena, up to the foothills, and onto a winding dirt road leading to ANDERSON’S
RANCH. Up at the top we discover a land time forgot. It’s a conglomerate of
shanties built during the sixties by hippies. The BROTHERS car pulls up to
a lean-to style hut. Its kitchen is open to the elements as it’s missing a front
wall. There is plenty of tie-die, macramé, hand made pots, etc. MOM sits on
the floor meditating. Incense burn around her. She has little finger cymbals
in each hand. Wind chimes chime. This would actually be a serene moment if it
wasn’t for the mothers cymbals, which she chimes after each om, and the chickens
squabbling in the bushes near by, and the hippies in the neighboring shack who
are having sex to one of Frank Zappa songs.)
MOM
Ommm.(chime.) Ommm.(chime.)
HENSON
Hey, mom. We just came by to say hi.
JIM
How are things?
MOM
Ommm.(chime.) Ommm.(chime.)
SNAKE
It’s Thursday. Buddha’s in nirvana till sunset.
No talking to her now
EVE
Shush up yo’ three. It helps her menopause.
And, how yo’ expect her ta reach enlightenment with yo’ sqwackin’ like abunch
o’ damn birds. Yo’ worse than the chickens in the bushes and the neighbor rabbits
maken’ bunnies ta Zappa.
SNAKE
Maybe this will bring her down to the earthly
material plane.
HENSON
Good news mom. Here’s some money. We got paid
for that script.
(SNAKE takes money from SKIPS wallet and
places it in MOM’s lap.)
MOM
Ommm.(chime.) Ommm.(chime.)
JIM
Don’t take that money mom. It’s stolen. Take
this back Henson.
(JIM picks money up and hands it to HENSON.)
